Donate to help Oak Grove Retreat Evolve
Around 1910, the Ms.’s Eliza and Penelope Gray inherited and relocated to “Oak Grove,” where they worked to have Saint Anne’s Chapel erected in memory of their mother, William Anne Pender Gray, and to serve their local community around the “Pender Crossroads,” just outside of Tarboro, NC.
In 1999, when Trish and I first moved here, the property had been unattended for 40 years, and there was A LOT of work to be done. Our original intention was to use the site as a home for my Timber Framing Office, but very quickly, we discovered that we were on Sacred Ground that was meant to be shared.
Today, as stewards of the property, we recognize our responsibility to preserve this space as it continues to serve the people who are drawn to it. In joining us, you have also entered into a relationship with the land and with the community.
In order to continue our collective mission of maintaining a nurturing place where love and peace can grow, please consider a Donation. Your support this year will go directly to upgrades to the Chapel with repairs to the leaky roof, sagging doors, and cold composting bathrooms. (Nothing works in an old house, except the owner!)
If you are unable to financially support at this time, you can still contribute! Rentals for weddings and events help support the property's ongoing maintenance. Word-of-mouth referrals are a powerful way to contribute to Oak Grove's sustainability.

Ways you can help us grow in 2026:
Donate directly (below), as you are able or use our Go-Fund-Me page to make contributions.
Become a Supporting Member of Oak Grove Retreat. There are 3 levels of community membership with opportunities for your participation and involvement: https://www.oakgrove-retreat.com/pricing-plans/list
Refer a Wedding or Renewal of Vows couple to Reserve the Chapel for their big event for a referral fee of 10% of the rental rate. Our cost to list the property on the wedding sites is very costly and we would much rather pay for results to our community than to a wedding app.
